Join us for an evening of Books x Bags, while supporting the community –
Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 6pm-7pm. Chestnut Hill, MA., November 15, 2022 – Handmade by BCK, a local, handcrafted big knit handbag business and Hummingbird Books, an independent, local female-owned and operated store, are teaming up to bring you an evening of Books x Bags on November 30th, 2022 from 6pm – 7pm.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Beth Cohen King, founder of Handmade by BCK,” says Wendy Dodson, owner of Hummingbird Books. “We want Hummingbird Books to be a gathering place for our community and we are proud to host this talented female entrepreneur. What’s better than shopping for books and bags with friends, new and old. With wine!”
“I am so excited to join Wendy and the team at Hummingbird Books to bring you an evening of Books x Bags. Handmade by BCK was inspired by the children’s book, Miss Rumphius, so I can’t think of a better symbiosis then to showcase my bags at Hummingbird Books. In starting this business, I wanted to do something to make the world more beautiful as the story of Miss Rumphius emphasizes, being creative is my way of doing that,” says Beth Cohen King. “Simultaneously, I wanted to be a business that was giving back, which is why 10% of the proceeds of the sales of my first 100 bags will go to the organization, Roca. Roca’s mission is to be a relentless force in disrupting incarceration, poverty, and racism by engaging the young adults, police, and systems at the center of urban violence in relationships to address trauma, find hope, and drive change. We all have to find ways to make the world more beautiful, and Roca is doing that in a grass roots, boots-on-the-ground way, providing access, resource and support to poverty-stricken communities, helping create the world we all want to share with others.”
